Laser Hair Removal Aftercare Advice
Cool the skin
- Apply aloe vera (straight from the fridge) to cool and calm the area. Continue with aloe vera until your skin has recovered.
- Apply a cool-pack if needed to reduce any discomfort or irritation (NEVER put ice directly onto your skin).
Protect the skin
- Wear loose clothes to avoid friction on the treated area for at least 24 hrs.
- Avoid exposing skin to strong sunlight, sunbeds or self-tan for at least 2 weeks.
- Avoid excess heat such as long baths, spas, steam rooms and saunas for at least 24 hours (more if your skin is still red or recovering in any way).
- Use a minimum of SPF 30 (preferably SPF 50) sunscreen daily e.g. ZO Daily Sheer SPF50. Reapply throughout the day if in direct sunlight.
- Avoid shaving the treated area for 72 hours.
- Avoid anything that involves chlorine (e.g. swimming) for 48 hours.
- Avoid make-up on the treated area for the rest of the day if possible.
- Avoid using strong, perfumed or bleaching products on the area for 48 hours.
Hair removal
- The only way to remove unwanted hair between treatment is by shaving. This ensures that the root of the hair is in place which is required for effective treatment.
- Despite what you may have been told, shaving does not change the way your hair grows! Not thicker, not more quickly.... nothing!
In event of problems
Contact hello@askinology.com ASAP with photos and information if you have any problems after treatment e.g. marks, scabbing or blisters. DO NOT scratch, pick or disturb these in any way if they occur.
