Hydroquinone (Melamin / Melamix / Clear / Blender) Advice
Tretinoin Advice
This information is for a standard regimen but should not replace the detailed advice that you may have received from your practitioner.- DO NOT use if pregnant or breast feeding
- MINIMISE sun exposure of affected areas
- ALWAYS use sun protection (min SPF30) – reapply throughout the day
- STOP use in the event of any problems and report immediately (minor skin irritation is expected). Send photos and detail to hello@askinology.com
Tretinoin is used to:
- Accelerate the action of hydroquinone
- Dry out the skin to prevent acne outbreaks
- Rejuvenate the skin e.g. improving fine lines & wrinkles, reducing pore size
Instructions for use
Apply to clean and dry skin. Apply all over face but concentrate on problem areas and gently rub into the skin.
Wash hands before and after use.
It is possible to have irritation from using tretinoin, especially at the start.
Redness, irritation, dryness and flaking is possible whilst your skin is new to it. This is completely normal and will settle as you get used to it. Think of it like starting a new gym regimen – it takes time to get your fitness up.
If the irritation is too much, stop using the tretinoin until things have settled and start again with a smaller amount.
Start with a small amount (the size of a small pea) 2 to 3 times per week and gradually increase amount and frequency as tolerated.
- If you are using your tretinoin with Melamix (or Blender), on the days that you are due to use tretinoin, mix it together with the Melamix (or Blender) in the palm of your hand before applying to the face as usual.
- If you are going to get irritation, you may not see it for 48 hours.
- If the tretinoin does cause you irritation, you can continue to use your Melamin and/or Melamix (or Blender) as usual (unless they have caused irritation also).
- If you are comfortable with some downtime, gradually use more/more frequently – in the long run, this will achieve quicker and better results.
- If you have trouble with reactions, reduce or stop your tretinoin for a few days while they subside.
As with any medicine or treatment, guarantees cannot be given about results. These will depend on the severity of your problem, the dosage and frequency of application as well as other factors.
