When’s the best time to have laser hair removal?

Not having to shave or wax but always having smooth soft skin not only saves time but gives you freedom to wear what you want. There is no better time for this than summer, especially when on holiday. However, laser hair removal is not instant and so you need to think in advance if you want to be hair free for the hot weather, skirts and strappy tops!

Hair is a stubborn thing and grows in cycles. Each laser hair removal treatment can only treat those hairs that are actively growing – all hairs that are in the dormant phase of the cycle are not affected. This means that repeated laser treatments are required with a reduction in the number of hairs after each and every treatment.

Facial treatments are best performed approximately 4 weeks apart, 6 weeks apart for body areas. Depending on the type of hair (thickness and colour) and skin colour, a minimum of 6 treatments will be needed for best results. 6 sessions 4 weeks apart means that it will be several months before you will have significant results.

Another thing to consider is that the treated area shouldn’t be exposed to strong sunlight before and after treatment – if you’re having laser hair removal for the bikini or underarms, this normally isn’t a problem. But if you are having any part of your face, arms or lower legs treated, this can affect what you can wear. These exposed areas can be treated any time of year but it’s just more convenient in the colder months.

So, if you’re wanting to be hair free for the summer, January is the perfect time to be thinking about starting laser hair removal treatment! ASKINOLOGY offer free same day consultations with a laser expert and test patches without charge. It’s a great opportunity to have all your questions answered and get to feel what the treatment is like.
