Fractional laser Treatment Information
A fractional laser sends small dots of laser light onto the skin (like the dots on a die) meaning that only a fraction of the skin is treated. The skin in between these dots is heated but not damaged in any way. The columns of skin that have been exposed heal over the next few days stimulating new collagen but this healing process is much quicker than traditional technology as much less skin has been affected. The result is great results for the improvement of texture, fine lines, sun spots and acne scarring with less down time. A course of treatments is always recommended for best results.
A fractional laser treatment doesn’t need to be an agressive one – passing over the entire face just once gives some dryness for a day or two leaving the skin with a smooth and refreshed look. These gentle treatments don’t require a test patch but are only for lighter skin types.

Erbium YAG fractional laser can treat a wide range of conditions and so a consultation is important for your condition to be assessed and individual advice given.
You’ll feel surprisingly little during the treatment itself… small gentle pings on the skin. It’s not until after the treatment that you will start to feel heat in the treated area – how much depends on the strength of the treatment. With a light laser peel, it will be generally warm. For a deeper acne scarring treatment, the evening may be uncomfortably hot and some may want to take a paracetamol to make it more comfortable. By the next day, although the skin may feel delicate, most of the heat should have gone.
Immediately after treatment your skin will be red and may be mildly swollen depending on the size and strength of treatment. This can take 1-5 days to completely recover, again, depending on the treatment.
Depending on the condition treated, results can be seen within weeks but full results in conditions such as acne scarring are seen up to 6 months after treatment.
